One of Alizzz’s most amazing productions is back, this time graced by slick vocals from Dreamon…
Bobby Tank returns with the epic technicolor “Undone”.
All you love will always fade away… The years roll by, till all these things are gone…
“Harlem Breakdown” – the opening track from The Young Punx’ forthcoming 3rd album – is a fierce wall of funk guaranteed to get your stink face on.
In true ‘Punx’ style – mashing up genres and tearing up the production rule book – the act created this track by writing and performing their own take on the virtuoso horn-funk and jazz of 1970s New York. Performed by the punx and their regular live band, the music was recorded entirely on vintage 70s recording equipment for that authentic retro dirt. Then, back at base camp The Young Punx remixed and mashed up their own recording to build a filthy electro stomp like Daft Punk on Tequila and steroids.
After nearly three years since his last release – years spent locked away painstakingly developing the exact sound he is looking for – the incredible Phonat returns with a new E.P. “Identity Theft”.
Phonat has crafted an exceptionally intimate and personal journey, exploring themes of the soul within the machine, the passage of time and the passions and challenges of the creator, brought to you by MofoHifi in association with OWSLA Records.
There’s a new approach, a new aesthetic emerging” proclaimed Clash Magazine in a recent write-up for the last Bobby Tank cut; a sentiment we have fully signed up for at MofoHifi as we explore further into the unrestricted, explosive future-funk template being pioneered by the likes of Flume, 813, Rustie and of course the aforementioned Bobby Tank.
Check out this beautiful new compilation of downtempo NuDisco grooves from our sister label Heavy Disco.
Tron Major’s debut release fits beautifully into the MofoHifi family, all glitches and complextro-squelches but deconstructed into a more progressive down-tempo journey where nothing stays the same for long and the journey just keeps running.
Bobby Tank’s sublime “The Way” is out now with massive support from the Radio One team.
In a world where Funky House isn’t even remotely funky, and Nu Disco doesn’t sound new or anything like Disco, DiscoSocks is about waking the fuck up and getting it bouncing again!
His live shows hinge around the most sweaty, high energy tracks DiscoSocks can find combined with a huge selection of thumped up edits of vintage funk, all underpinned with brutal live slap bass from the man himself. Read more
Italian Turbofunkers Fire Flowerz team up with NAPT to bring their own unique mix of french touch and heavy-weight house to MofoHifi. NAPT, with huge releases on both Fool’s Gold (Tom Toms EP) and Vicious Bitch (Gonna be Mine) and a string of remixes to their name this year (including Far Too Loud, Surrender!, Elektropusher and Udachi) continue to tear-up dance floors with their uncompromisingly catchy bangers. Fire Flowerz, meanwhile have drummed up DJ support from Herve, Reset, Louis La Roche, Russ Chimes, Plump DJs and more. ‘Connect’ marks their debut on MofoHifi, with Fire Flowerz releasing a record with Birdee on Mofo’s sister label Heavy Disco next month. MofoHifi is the eclectic, well respected East-London based record label founded by The Young Punx, with Phonat, Bobby Tank and many more on their roster.
To quote The Fader: “The maximalist UK producer Bobby Tank’s lavish funk anthem “Afterburn” now has a frantic, technicolor video befitting the single’s size. Picture three minutes of hitting the turbo-boost on Mario Kart’s Rainbow Road, except everyone’s topless. The glitchy transition between shots is immaculate.” (Buy on iTunes)

MofoHifi Records are delighted to announce that infamous Italian party collective Reset! Have joined the MofoHifi family for the release of their latest tracks ‘Wind Up’ and ‘Escape’.
Reset! – A 5-man collective of DJs, producers and party promoters based in Milan – are renowned both for their spectacular and sweaty club nights and for pioneering the ‘Turbofunk’ genre – a bass-heavy fusion of disco and electro which has seen massive support from the likes of Justice, Hervé, Annie Mac, A Trak, Crookers and Cassius.
MofoHifi Records presents ‘Loud’, an EP from new Spanish electronic producer, Alizzz, which follows his teaser first release, “Neon Lights” earlier this year.
In common with his label-mates, Bobby Tank and Phonat, Alizzz revels in the luxurious melodic synth aesthetic of the 80s, super-tight post-dubstep beats and deconstructed vocal glitches. Favouring a lush, soulful route and bathing the listener in chordal bliss and RnB vibes, if ‘Brostep’ is the disease, Alizzz is the cure – furnishing the 140bpm world with tracks that eschew ear-grating Massive drops in favour of harmony, key changes, solos and slick 80s soul. The pulse of dubstep remains, but refocused as a platform for synth-beauty and boogie.

Reset! vs Birdee (Cheap Thrills / Southern Fried / MofoHifi)
The two kings of Italian turbofunk playing back-to-back for the first time! Expect full frontal electro funk party mayhem.
“Return To The Valley Of the Super Shooters” sees The Young Punx and friends in nostalgic mood, lovingly harking back to the golden era of UK Jungle. With Memphis-rapper Count Bass D spitting in clear homage to Zinc’s legendary “Super Sharp Shooter” (itself a lift from LL Cool J), and classic junglist beats to boot, the Young Punx Delorean is targeted firmly at 1995. But with a heavy lacing of post-dubstep basslines from Phonat dominating the low end, and a quirky collection of Theremins and Circuit-bent Stylophones tweaking over the top this is very much a 21st Century track, with a wry nod to music that inspired its creators back in the day.

Electro-duo Fanny Games consist of eccentric London-based Italians Lapo Frost and James Brivido. Famed for their intense and downright mental live shows the boys deliver freeform improvised electro inspired by French House, Italo-Disco, Glitch and punk-pop. Their signature track – the vocoder driven “In The Club (On The Street)” is familiar to anyone who has seen them live. It marks their debut for MofoHifi Records, where they join their friends and fellow Italians Phonat, 5eya, Birdee and Fire Flowerz in a stunning line-up of disco madness coming this summer on the label.
Here’s what Electronic Rumors Blog had to say: “Throw Electro-House, Nu-Disco, Italo and French Touch into a blender set to decimate and this is the results. A juggernaut of a tune driven by Vocoded chanting and chainsaw synths. I get that the vocoded vocals are saying “In The Club (On The Street)”, but it sounds a lot like “Intruder Alert” from ‘Talking Android Attack’, one of the first computer games with voice synthesization on the Dragon 32, which actually kidna’ adds to the cool. ‘In The Club (On The Street)’ is a full-on dancefloor destroyer, and surprisingly melodic. reMix duties are covered by Luxar, who starts off with shuffling, fidgety ,beasts but soon warps the track into something more akin to Cosmic Disco with a weird, but funky, mixture of ‘90’s House elements and futuristic galactic voyages. Fanny Games live in a world of their own, if you decide to join them, and we suggest you do, tread carefully. No-one gets out of here alive.”
Saturday 16th June 2012 sees MofoHifi Records take over the legendary Corsica Studios club in Elephant and Castle London, in a party organised by Fanny Games to celebrate the launch of their track “In The Club (On The Street)” on MofoHifi.
