The Young Punx, aka Hal Ritson and Cameron Saunders, are making all the right moves for an outfit about to hit the big time. Heavy media attention? Check. Currently being chased by major labels? Check. Nods of approval from dance music’s biggest names? Check.

Following on from their shipping forecast-sampling cult hit, ‘Rockall’, the new cut ‘You’ve Got To…’ is a swaggering alt. dance anthem destined for radio, and for making them the stars they’re threatening to become. Recorded with live instruments and no samples, the single weaves surf rock guitars, breakbeats, and a ragga vocal from Yolanda Quartey (Bugz In The Attic, Deekline & Wizard), into the latest notch on the bedpost in the mainstream’s love affair with the band.

Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) liked the track so much he asked to remix it for free. In true style, Mr Cook then incorporated the track, 'Bongo Bong/King Of The Bongo', by seminal Latin artist, Manu Chao, renowned as the ‘Joe Strummer of Latin Punk’, into his mix. The mix and the original are now tearing up dancefloors thanks to a limited run of promos.

The video to ‘You’ve Got To…’ is by the internationally renowned Dutch animation artist, Han Hoogerbrugge, a fan and collaborator with the band who has built a large cult following on the Internet through bizarre and witty illustrations of his own surreal view of modern life. Within it, the wit and style of The Young Punx comes alive as their pop culture aesthetic takes on a new visual dimension.

Featured on the Fifa '07 game by EA Games, ‘You’ve Got To…’ follows a host of remixes for the likes of Scissor Sisters, Big Bass, The Similou, Space Cowboy, Norman Cook's "Mighty Dub Katz”, and Krafty Kuts. Further mixes come from minimal outfit The Dopeheadz and Fembot Funk.

Out of the studio, the band is currently rehearsing for gigs with guitarist Guthrie Govan (Guitar Player’s Player Of The Year), drummer Alex Reeves, and vocalist Tiffany Gore, who form the rest of the tour outfit who played to 25,000 people in Japan last year. On the DJ front, The Young Punx have just been asked by Positiva to become residents at their Positiva Calling night at The Cross. Hal is also working with David Guetta on some of the Gallic maestro’s new album tracks.
